Wataru Narita ,M.D., Ph.D.
- Born in Kyoto in 1977, he graduated from Jichi Medical University in 2003 and obtained a Doctorate in Medicine from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in 2017. While engaged in remote area medical care, he has been involved in developing new surgical techniques and instruments by applying IT technologies, such as obtaining patents for surgical instruments and developing smartphone applications. Since 2017, he has been the first in Japan to use Virtual Reality (VR) for spinal treatment. In October 2018, he established the Spine Center at Kameoka City Hospital, where he introduced cutting-edge spinal treatments utilizing VR and MIST (Minimally Invasive Spine Stabilization Techniques).
- In 2021, he transitioned to being a freelance surgeon, performing surgeries, providing guidance, and developing advanced technologies across various locations while being based in Kameoka City. He has delivered numerous lectures and symposia both domestically and internationally and has performed approximately 5,000 spinal surgeries to date.
